Lord, you hear every cry. We think of the places on this earth where war is destroying lives, homes and land. We hold them up to you and pray for your mercy. Hold back the powers that threaten with the use of nuclear weapons. Save us from this madness and from the madness of terrorism. Help us to stand up to the powers of death, greed and nationalistic bigotry. Give us the courage to question prejudice and call out injustice. Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer.
